Online Policy Group Services: Tutorial

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to a traumatic double disk crash, the service request forms on this website are currently not functioning. To request any of these services, please email support@onlinepolicy.org

The Online Policy Group Services Tutorial provides help in requesting OPG's free Internet services.

The first step to making your request is to choose between these possibilities:

Email List Request
An email list is a discussion group that corresponds via electronic mail. Mail sent to the main address is distributed to all members of the group. Each email list has an administrator (generally the same person who initiates the list) who knows a password and may change the list in various ways. An email list can also be called a listserv.

Website Hosting
A website is a collection of pages stored under one name on the World Wide Web. You can create a website containing information on your organization without the need to administer to technical details that are normally involved with the construction of websites. OPG can manage much of the complexity of creating a web page for you and you will have the ability to control the information and to change the web pages in your site.

Domain Registration
www.onlinepolicy.org is an example of a domain. Like telephone numbers in a telephone directory, domain names are used by the web to comprise a listing of unique entries. Domain registration is the process of acquiring a unique listing that identifies your organization to anyone using the web to refer to your website. When accessing pages in a particular site, the leftmost part of the words used to access the site are the domain. Registration is the process of finding a unique name, paying for the license to use the name, and submitting the name to a company responsible for maintaining the official list of companies with active web sites.

Other Requests
This category covers all requests not in one of the categories above, including intern and volunteer applications, finances, processing donations, and feedback on all other aspects of the organization and its services.
