About

The Online Policy Group (OPG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to online policy research, outreach, and action on issues such as access, privacy, digital defamation, and the digital divide. Additionally, it focuses on Internet participants’ civil liberties and human rights, like access, privacy, safety, and serving schools, libraries, disabled, elderly, youth, women, and sexual, gender, and ethnic minorities.

“One Internet With Equal Access for All”

With connections to industry, academia, the media, and other nonprofit organizations, OPG seeks to fulfill its vision through a combination of research and development, community services, and advocacy. A volunteer-run organization funded almost entirely by individual donations, OPG is headquartered in San Francisco and was founded by Stardust Doherty on July 21, 2000, growing to include QueerNet. The California Community Colocation Project affiliated with OPG from 2001 until its completion in 2007.

Have a look at some testimonials and a list of clients who have benefitted from and/or recognize the importance of OPG programs and services, as well as a summary of the networking opportunities in which OPG has participated. You can also view and print an OPG brochure (Adobe PDF format).
