Media Coverage: Parties' Web Sites Are Poopers
By Frank Barnako, CBS MarketWatch, August 24, 2000 The Republican Party's Web sites generated twice as much traffic during its convention week as the Democrats' sites did during their convention, according to data released Thursday by Media Metrix (MMXI). Republicans received 392,000 unique visitors during the GOP convention, while Democrats (Algore.com, Dems2000.com, Democrats.org) had 201,000 unique visitors. Traffic to political-news sites decreased during the week of the GOP convention, but increased during the week of the Democratic convention. C-Span.org increased from 40,000 unique visitors the week of August 13 to 106,000 unique visitors the week of August 20, a 165 percent increase. During that same period, Voter.com increased from 58,000 to 117,000 unique visitors, a 102 percent increase. |
